Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso has confirmed that Nigerian forward Victor Boniface sustained a minor thigh injury while representing the Super Eagles during their 2-1 loss to Rwanda in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier held at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on Monday, November 18.

Boniface played 89 minutes before being substituted for Umar Sadiq but failed to end his goal drought for the national team. Since his debut in 2023, the striker has played 11 matches for Nigeria without scoring.
