Ashleigh Plumptre Recuperates After Successful Foot Surgery

Super Falcons defender, Ashleigh Plumptre, has recently undergone a successful right foot surgery in Saudi Arabia. The injury, sustained during her tenure with the Saudi club Al Ittihad, sidelined her from participating in Nigeria’s 2024 Olympic Games qualifier against South Africa’s Banyana Banyana.

A club statement confirmed the successful procedure, stating, that Ashleigh Plumptre, a prominent figure in the Ittihad Women’s Football Team, has had right foot surgery. She is now set to commence a therapy and rehabilitation regimen to facilitate her return to training.

Plumptre took to social media to express her gratitude towards Al Ittihad, the national team, and her for their continuous support during her recovery. A big thank you to everyone at @ittiladiesclub and Dr Pieter D’Hooge at @Aspetar for guiding me through my first surgery, she shared. After a long journey seeking answers, I am relieved to have reached this recovery phase.

She also acknowledged her teammates and Nigerian fans, appreciating their patience and understanding during her recovery period, and conveyed her eagerness to return to the field in top health.
